The Sims 2 is a 2004 strategic life simulation video game developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. It is the sequel to The Sims. The game has the same concept as its predecessor: players control their Sims in various activities and form relationships in a manner similar to real life. The macOS (OS X) version of this game does not work on macOS Catalina (version 10.15) or later due to the removal of support for 32-bit-only apps.

Anti-aliasing (AA)[edit]

If your 'Edge Smoothing' slider is greyed out in-game, then it's likely that the game cannot determine how much VRAM your GPU has and is defaulting to its failsafe of 32 MB.

Raise amount of fallback value^{[citation needed]}
Navigate to the configuration file location. Open `Graphics Rules.sgr`. Find the following section: and change `seti textureMemory` to the value of your GPU's VRAM in megabytes. Notes This makes game use your VRAM amount as fallback value. Do not put value higher than actual VRAM amount is!

Notes

This makes game use your VRAM amount as fallback value. Do not put value higher than actual VRAM amount is!

Alternative Fix
Navigate to the configuration file location. Open `Graphics Rules.sgr`. Search for `enumerateMultisampleLevels` and wherever it says `false` next to it, correct it with `true`. There are multiple lines with the `enumerateMultisampleLevels` so keep changing to true until there are no more results.

Vertical sync (Vsync)[edit]

Toggling Vsync can cause the game to hang.^{[citation needed]}

Vsync can only be toggled using the Cheat Console (Ctrl+⇧ Shift+C) and using either the 'vsync off' or 'vsync on' command.

Issues fixed[edit]

Poorly Placed Objects/Frozen Objects[edit]

Periodically, special object may be placed in a bad location, preventing a sim from doing anything. In other cases, a normal object may be improperly tagged as 'in use' and cannot be moved, sold, or manipulated.

This problem can only be fixed with a mod, as moveobjects on cheat is disabled for this game.

The Sims 2 : Castaway Stories FULL VERSION

Gameplay on Mami Island is much more open-ended, enabling gameplay reminiscent of more traditional Sims games. The player is allowed to design their own Family and start Jobs as in The Jobs 5, The Jobs 6 & The Jobs 7.

In 'Shipwrecked and Single' mode, the player is subjected to a scenario-driven style of gameplay. The player must choose to play as David Bennett, Jessica Knight, or create a customized Sim, who boards a cruise ship for singles named Solomon Queen, only to have it crash and leave them drifting on the ocean clinging to a crate. The crate happens to float onto land, after which the player is left to help the Sim survive. This game is very controlled.
